Professor Andrea Bastian joined the Christopher Center Library in the summer of 2019. She coordinates the First-Year Experience program in the library, and she also serves as the librarian for Valpo Core, Christ College, History, Political Science, American Studies, Peace and Social Justice, ROTC, and High School Outreach.

Prior to joining Valparaiso University, Professor Bastian received her Master of Library and Information Science from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. As a graduate student, she taught and worked in the Undergraduate Library. She also received her Bachelor's degree in English Literature at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. Professor Bastian's research interests include accessibility in library environments, assessing authentic student learning, and information literacy.

Other Interests

Professor Bastian enjoys camping and hiking whenever she can. Her favorite things include her family and friends, Taco Bell, podcasting about Muppets and witches, meeting new dog friends on walks, and sorting people into Hogwarts houses.
